Step into Bella Austria and it feels like you’ve arrived on a film set – with one important difference: the towering mountains and flower-covered meadows are completely real.

Set in the stunning Katschtal Valley, this parc is so picturesque it feels like it’s always ready for its close-up. It’s made for outdoor adventure, with plenty of scenic hiking routes (walking maps are available at reception), bike hire in the nearby village, and a cycle path leading you down to the Mur River. You can also explore the charming villages scattered along the valley floor.

Back on park, younger guests will love the mini farm, while adults can unwind in the Austrian-style wellness area, complete with traditional saunas designed to soothe tired legs after a day in the hills. For those keen to explore further, the park owners also offer informal guided tours into the surrounding countryside, taking you deep into the heart of the Austrian Alps.

What it’s really like

A simple Austrian campsite that’s all about the scenery and outdoor activities rather than luxury. It sits in a really pretty valley surrounded by hills and forests, and that peaceful Austrian countryside vibe is definitely the main reason to come here. It feels relaxed, green and quite traditional rather than flashy or modern.

The campsite itself is fairly well organised. The mobile homes are functional if not particularly high-end. The pool area is fine for cooling off, with a separate kids’ section, but it’s not huge and can feel a bit crowded in peak season. Facilities like the shop and restaurant are handy but fairly basic, so it’s not the kind of place where you’d want to rely on eating on site every day.

The big plus here is the location. It’s a brilliant for hiking, cycling and exploring the Styrian mountains, and there’s loads of nature all around. Staff are friendly and helpful, and most guests say it’s clean and well maintained.

But it’s not without issues. One of the most common complaints is noise and lack of real calm in peak season, with reports of kids running around late into the evening and it feeling more hectic than expected. Some mobile homes are quite close together, so privacy can be limited, and you don’t really get much shade because the trees are still quite young in places. A few people also mention road noise depending on where you are on the site, which can take away from the “peaceful mountain escape” feel.

Our honest verdict: Bella Austria is a good-value family campsite in a beautiful part of Austria. If you want mountains, outdoor adventures and a simple base, it works really well. If you’re expecting luxury facilities, total quiet, it probably won’t quite match that expectation.
