Route to Languedoc

Why do people travel via the autoroute de sud (past Lyon) when heading to the Languedoc region of the south of France?
It’s Far far cheaper to head to Rouen then onto the N154 which is now dual carriageway, pick up the A10 before Orleans heading to Clermont Ferrand, then the FREE A75 over the Millau bridge to Bezieres
It’s a fraction of the cost of the A6/A7 Lyon route and faster too.
