Overview
Immerse yourself in the nature of the Spreewald, a biosphere reserve of forests, wetlands, traditional villages and winding canals. The real world seems an awfully long way away here. And that pleasant, calming atmosphere continues at the Spreewald Tour park, wrapped in leafy woodland and immaculate green pastures. Not all peace and relaxation though, you can have fun filled days bursting with adventure here too. The park’s extensive range of leisure facilities will see to that.
Enjoy relaxing hours in the swimming pool, unwind in the wellness area (featuring a Finnish sauna and steam bath) or watch as your kids soak up the fun of the park’s varied children's entertainment all summer long.
Then, it’s time to explore your Spreewald location - where medieval half-timbered villages seemingly straight out of a fairytale offer the best in German hospitality: your park even offer shuttle trips to explore your new found home. But it’s not all quaint and medieval: Berlin, Europe’s most dynamic capital, is an easy 90 minutes’ drive away (or around 70 minutes by train). A day exploring the city’s iconic sights is always a good idea.
Return for a memorable meal when night falls - and don’t forget to take your table in the courtyard, where you can enjoy live music to accompany those after-dinner drinks.
What it’s really like
We stayed at Eurocamp Spreewaldtor in Brandenburg, Germany, and overall it’s a really pleasant, nature-focused campsite thats great if you want peace, water, and outdoor activities rather than a big entertainment resort.
The first thing that stands out is the location. It’s set right in the Spreewald region near Lake Groß Leuthen, surrounded by forest, waterways and cycling routes. It feels very green and relaxed, and it’s a great base for canoeing, biking and exploring the unique Spreewald canals. Its an ideal spot for slowing down and enjoying nature.
The site itself is well kept and has a friendly, organised feel. There’s a nice central “village-style” area with a restaurant, small shop and family facilities. There’s also a pool area and direct access to the lake, which is great for swimming or just relaxing by the water.
What people generally like most is the atmosphere — it’s calm, family-friendly and feels safe. There’s a bit of animation for kids in holiday periods, but it never turns into a noisy, overcrowded holiday park.
That said, it’s not perfect. The biggest downside is location convenience — it’s very remote, and if you don’t have a car, getting to nearby towns or supermarkets can be awkward, it feels a bit out of the way. The on-site shop is quite limited, and the restaurant hours aren’t always long enough, which can be frustrating if you don’t want to cook every day.
It's a bit basic in terms of entertainment. The pool is fine but not huge, and while there are activities, it’s definitely more “nature campsite” than full holiday resort. A few mobile home pitches are slightly uneven or sloped too, depending on where you’re placed.
Our honest verdict: Spreewaldtor is a really nice, well-run campsite if you want calm surroundings, water activities and a proper nature escape. It’s ideal for couples and families who enjoy cycling, canoeing and outdoor exploring. But if you want a lively resort with loads of entertainment, restaurants and easy access to towns, it might feel a bit quiet and remote.
