Camping Jungfrau is unlike anything you’re likely to have experienced before. Nestled in a lush green valley with 72 waterfalls, the campsite is immersed in nature, with streams and falls flowing dramatically through and around the site itself.
This cosy, family-operated parc delivers a genuine Alpine atmosphere, reflected in its relaxed restaurant and charming terrace bar. When you’re ready to venture out, the picturesque village of Lauterbrunnen is just a short walk away. Guests can also make use of a ‘Gästekarte’, which provides discounts on local attractions such as the swimming pool, mini golf, and museum.
For walkers and adventurers, the nearby Eiger Trail offers unforgettable views of the iconic Eiger Glacier, making this an ideal base for both relaxation and exploration in the heart of the Swiss Alps
What it’s really like
A simple but perfectly located campsite in the heart of the Swiss Alps. Its an ideal base for exploring Interlaken, Grindelwald and the Jungfrau region. We stayed here and it’s one of those places where the setting almost feels unreal. You’re right in the middle of the valley with towering cliffs, waterfalls dropping down the mountainsides and snowy peaks in the distance. It genuinely feels like one of the most scenic campsites in Europe, and if you’re visiting Switzerland for the views, this place absolutely delivers.
The site itself was very clean, facilities were modern and everything felt well maintained. There’s a small shop, restaurant and helpful reception team, which made arrivals and planning trips easy. Lauterbrunnen village is within walking distance, and trains, cable cars and buses are close by, so it’s a fantastic base for exploring Wengen, Mürren, Grindelwald and the Jungfrau region without needing to drive everywhere.
What we liked most was that it felt peaceful despite being popular. People come here for hiking, scenery and mountain trips rather than loud poolside holidays, so the atmosphere was calm and relaxed.
That said, it isn’t perfect. Like most of Switzerland, it’s expensive, and food, transport and extras soon add up. Because the site is so popular, it can feel crowded in peak season and booking well ahead is almost essential. Depending on where you stay you may hear road traffic or early morning campsite activity. The weather in the valley can also change quickly, so rain can affect mountain plans.
Overall, we’d happily recommend Camping Jungfrau. If you want jaw-dropping scenery, clean facilities and one of the best bases for exploring the Swiss Alps, it’s an outstanding choice. If you’re chasing budget holidays or resort-style fun, it may be less suitable.
