Overview

Manor Farm Camping is a large, high-quality campsite located directly on the shores of Lake Thun in Interlaken, Switzerland. It’s one of the most popular camping destinations in the region thanks to its unique lakeside setting and views of the surrounding Bernese Alps, including the distinctive peak of the Niesen.

The site is a 5-star, year-round campsite. One of its biggest highlights is its direct access to Lake Thun, with beaches and swimming areas right on site.
Guests also have access to excellent facilities including modern sanitary blocks, free WiFi, a campsite shop, and multiple dining options such as nearby restaurants and a beach bar.
For activities, Manor Farm is especially well known for being family-friendly. There are playgrounds, sports fields, mini golf, beach volleyball, and a kids’ club in summer, along with water sports like kayaking, paddleboarding, and boat rentals. Its location also makes it a great base for exploring Interlaken, boat trips on the lake, and excursions into the surrounding mountains.

What it’s really like

We stayed at Manor Farm near Interlaken and, honestly, the location alone makes it a memorable place. The campsite sits right on the side of Lake Thun, with mountain views all around, so you wake up each morning feeling like you’re in a postcard. If you want a base for exploring Switzerland, it’s hard to beat. Interlaken is nearby, and there are buses and boats close to the site, which made getting around really easy without always needing the car.

The site itself was clean, there’s a small shop, restaurants nearby, lake access and plenty of outdoor space for kids to run around. It feels more like a scenic touring campsite than a flashy family resort, which suited us.

This isn’t the sort of Eurocamp site with giant pool complexes, waterslides and nonstop entertainment. Facilities are good, but more practical than exciting. Some parts of the site feel a little dated, especially compared with newer campsites elsewhere in Europe. And, being Switzerland, it’s not a cheap holiday once you factor in food and extras.

Overall, we'd recommend Manor Farm if you love scenery, hiking, lakes and using the campsite as a base for adventures. It’s ideal for families who enjoy the outdoors, couples, or anyone wanting to experience Switzerland properly. If you need constant entertainment or bargain prices, it may not be the best fit. But for views and location, it’s genuinely hard to beat.
