Overview

Camping Kinzigtal is a small campsite in Germany’s Black Forest, set beside a stream and close to walking and cycling routes. It’s a quieter, more traditional site focused on relaxation rather than big resort-style facilities.

What it’s really like

Kinzigtal is one of those Eurocamp sites that will really suit some people and completely miss the mark for others. If you’re expecting a huge resort packed with slides, entertainment and endless activities, this probably isn’t the one. But if you want a peaceful base in the Black Forest with proper countryside surroundings, it has a lot going for it. It’s a smaller, more traditional campsite near Steinach, set beside a stream and surrounded by hills and woodland.

The biggest plus here is the location. The Black Forest is fantastic for walking, cycling and scenic drives, and Kinzigtal puts you in a great position to explore villages, waterfalls and mountain routes. It feels calm and green, which is ideal if you want a break from busy everyday life. Families with younger children may like the open space and playground, while couples often appreciate the quieter atmosphere.

Facilities seem decent rather than flashy. There’s no giant pool complex on-site, but guests often mention the nearby swimming pool access, which helps in summer. Accommodation is practical rather than luxurious, and some reviews suggest parts of the site can feel a little dated. That said, many smaller German campsites trade modern glamour for friendliness and charm, and Kinzigtal appears to fit that mould.

Our honest verdict: Kinzigtal is a solid choice for nature lovers, walkers and families who use the campsite as a base for days out. It’s less suited to teenagers or anyone wanting a full-on holiday park vibe. If your perfect holiday means birdsong, forest air and relaxed evenings rather than queueing for waterslides, this could be a very good fit.

Lovely area but some of the mobile homes are well past their use by date. There are some newer ones so its just pot luck I guess.

Nice area but nothing to do on site, we used it only as a base for visiting the Black Forest which is lovely.

Went sept 2025, very good location but that’s about it. Site is pretty poor to be honest, some newish mobile homes but ours was very old and tired. No real facilities on site. Great for visiting the Black Forest but that’s all.
