Overview
Set in the volcanic landscapes of the Eifel region, this family-friendly parc is a great choice for an active holiday with children.
At the centre of the parc is a scenic recreational lake, perfect for swimming, fishing, or a relaxing pedalo ride on the water.
Whatever the weather, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained. Enjoy the indoor swimming pool, mini-golf, sports courts, and the NXT LVL Activity Hall, featuring arcade games and a climbing wall for younger adventurers. During peak season, the on-site entertainment team also runs activities to help kids meet new friends and stay engaged throughout the day.
When it’s time to eat, prepare a meal in your accommodation or visit the cosy on-site restaurant serving freshly grilled dishes in a relaxed setting.
What it’s really like
Landal Wirfttal is tucked into a wooded valley in the Eifel region, a solid family holiday park, but it definitely has a mix of really good points and a few noticeable drawbacks depending on what you expect going in.
The setting is genuinely lovely. It’s tucked into a green valley near Stadtkyll with forests, hills and a small lake running through the site. It feels very natural and peaceful in places, and you’re surrounded by loads of walking and cycling routes in the wider Eifel region, which is a big plus if you like being outdoors.
The site itself is quite large and very activity-focused. There’s an indoor pool, playgrounds, mini golf, sports areas and a decent amount for kids to do, it works well for families who want things on hand without constantly leaving the site. In summer it has that busy holiday park feel where there’s always something going on.
That said, it’s not without issues. Some areas of the site feel a bit dated, certain facilities, are a bit tired in places compared with newer parks.
It can feel quite busy in peak season. The pool and main play areas get crowded, and it loses a bit of the “peaceful nature escape” vibe at those times. There are extra costs for things like WiFi or activities, which can add up and feel a bit much for what is otherwise a fairly standard campsite.
Our honest verdict: Landal Wirfttal is a good, reliable family base with loads to do nearby and a really nice natural setting. It’s especially good for active holidays and exploring the Eifel. But it’s not the most modern or luxurious Landal park, and in peak season it can feel busy and a bit rough around the edges in places.
